My name is Sam Procter and I make hats, I wondered if you would be interested in having a little look.
Most of my hats are made up from old, found and unwanted materials, carefully reworked into something new and unique. As a result most of everything I produce is a limited edition or one-of-a-kind. All of this, combined with a penchant for aerosol spray and stencils and their wildly beautiful effect on old wool blankets, has lead me on to my new venture.
I have adopted some unusual blocking methods, using objects such as a glass vase for my red topper hat and a rice ring mould.
I currently live and work from my little bedroom in Winchester and have three daughters.
Just as a bit of background, I worked in Old Street, London, as a Fashion Designer / Pattern cutter during the 80's and 90's for the memorable, kind and creative Antony Hoffman of Joy Hoffman PLC. As a result, I now find myself surrounded by lots of beautiful things I have collected over the years: buttons, fabric, trims etc. All of this, combined with a penchant for aerosol spray and stencils and their wildly beautiful effect on wool, has lead me on to my new venture.
Thank you
Samantha.
